AI assistant connector (MCP)

Use Spliteo from Claude and ChatGPT

Spliteo's MCP server lets an AI assistant work with your Spliteo account. Log a shared expense right after it happens, check who owes whom, plan a settle-up or see how your budgets are doing, just by asking.

Requires Spliteo Premium (US$1.99/month or US$19.99/year, with a 14-day free trial on the web). Works in English and Spanish.

Set it up

Claude (web & desktop)

  1. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors, then "Add custom connector".
  2. Paste the MCP server URL below.
  3. If your client asks for an OAuth Client ID, enter the one below.
  4. Confirm, then sign in to Spliteo and approve access.

ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, open Settings → Connectors and add a custom / remote MCP connector. Needs a paid plan with developer mode enabled.
  2. Paste the MCP server URL below.
  3. If your client asks for an OAuth Client ID, enter the one below.
  4. Sign in to Spliteo and approve access when prompted.

Claude Code and API-key clients

  1. In Spliteo, open Settings → AI Access (MCP) and create an API key.
  2. Add the server with the key as a Bearer header. In Claude Code:

Sign-in is handled securely by OAuth — you don't need to create an API key for this.

Safety and privacy

  • Spliteo never moves money. Recording that someone paid you back only adds a transfer to the group.
  • Every change the assistant makes is listed in the AI activity log, in Settings → AI Access (MCP).
  • You can revoke the assistant's access at any time from the same screen.
  • You sign in on Spliteo's own page, so your password is never shared with the assistant.

Technical details

  • Remote MCP server over streamable HTTP.
  • OAuth 2.0 authorization code with PKCE (S256) and dynamic client registration.
  • API keys are sent as an Authorization: Bearer header.
  • Protected resource metadata: https://api.spliteo.app/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp
