- Add everyone in the group and how much each person paid. Leave it empty for anyone who didn't pay.
- The calculator adds up the total and splits it equally. Each person's balance is what they paid minus their share.
- People who paid less pay the people who paid more. The largest amounts are matched first, so the group settles in as few payments as possible.
Questions
- Why are there fewer payments than people?
- Instead of everyone paying everyone, the calculator first works out each person's net balance. Whoever is owed money is only paid by people who owe it, so a group of five usually settles in four payments or fewer.
- Can I split unequally, or in more than one currency?
